Gatsby Jewellery Ltd has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The stone is secured by four 18k yellow gold claws and sits within a surround of sixteen eight-cut diamonds which are rubover set in platinum. The wonderfully ornate scrolling under-gallery, leads to a slender platinum shank with double-notch detailing at the shoulders.

Accompanied by a sapphire report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating the sapphire shows no evidence of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut: Cushion cut sapphire and eight-cut diamonds.

Colour: The diamonds are G to H.
Clarity: The sapphires is eye-clean. The diamonds are VS1 to VS2.
Carat: The sapphire is 3.81 carat. With a total approximate diamond weight of 0.50 carat.
Circa: 1935.
Size: J (UK) or 4 5/8 (US). Free sizing available.

Measurements: The sapphire is 8.9 x 7.6mm. The head of the ring is 15.0 x 13.1mm and sits 7.4mm from the finger.
Weight: 5.51 grams.
Metal: Platinum. The claws holding the sapphire are 18k yellow gold. Tested with a Niton DXL Precious Metal Analyzer.
