This small beautiful jewel like piece of Chinese fine art is a very pleasing ornamental bonsai tree.The tree stands in a brightly coloured cloisonne enamelled shallow pot which is raised onto four shaped feet.The tree''s trunk and stem are made of wire, and the lower section is modelled over the wire in heavy clay, creating a bark-like texture. The more slender branches are neatly bound in green silk thread.The bonsai tree leaves are very nicely carved showing good natural movement in dark green hardstone which is most likely jade.The tree is adorned with numerous finely detailed flowers and buds carved in agate, white jade, turquoise, and rock crystal.
