Description

Gents antique silver trench watch, 1914.

The watch has a Swiss movement which has been identified as being by Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon, a Swiss movement manufacturer. The movement is working nicely.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London (import mark), 1914 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The front of the case is in good condition, the hinged case back has some unevenness.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The dial has its original hands, all luminous detail has been removed. There is a faint hairline running vertically from number 1.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
