Mid-size 9ct gold Arcadia wrist watch, 1926.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name Arcadia, a brand name registered by the Fleurier Watch Co in 1915. It is all protected by an inner cover.

The watch measures 30mm diameter excluding the later winding crown and the fixed lugs. Originally designed as a man’s watch, it would suit a slimmer wrist. It was originally designed as a man’s watch but it would suit a slim wrist. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside both of the case for London (import mark), 1926 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case has some unevenness in places but not too noticeable when the watch is being worn.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial looks good to the naked eye. If viewed closely, there is a collection of short hairlines between 6 and 7, towards the edge of the dial. Blued steel hands.

The watch comes in a vintage presentation box.
