A delightful Pair of Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Sheep, their coats of shredded clay, each standing beside a stream and supporting a spill vase. Typically found standing upon the mantelpiece, figures such as these helped recall memories of rural life for the many who, throughout the nineteenth century were forced by poverty to flee the countryside in order to find work in the cities.
