Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sunderland lustreware is a style of English earthenware produced primarily in the North East of England during the 19th century. It is distinguished by its metallic, iridised glaze finish, frequently executed in a mottled or splashed pink hue over a light-coloured ceramic body.

The signature pink lustre finish was achieved by applying a thin solution containing dissolved gold oxides over a glazed earthenware body. When fired in the kiln, the chemical reaction produced a shimmering, iridescent surface ranging from purplish-pink to metallic orange.

Authentic pieces generally feature a light earthenware body with hand-applied transfer prints, visible wear consistent with age, and unglazed or gently worn foot rings. The splash lustre pattern is usually irregular, reflecting hand-application methods rather than modern uniform reproduction techniques.

These decorative ceramics serve as effective focal points on open shelving, sideboards, or kitchen dressers. They can be displayed as standalone decorative vessels, arranged in groupings with complementary period pottery, or repurposed as vase centrepieces for floral arrangements.

Lustreware ceramics should be washed delicately by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap. Abrasive sponges, harsh chemical cleaners, and dishwashers must be avoided, as metallic glazes and transfer prints are vulnerable to wearing off under harsh conditions.
