Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mourning rings became widely popular during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries as sentimental keepsakes commissioned to commemorate the deceased. These pieces were often bequeathed in wills to family members and friends, serving as personal reminders of remembrance.

Georgian memorial pieces were typically constructed from high-carat gold, such as 15ct or 18ct gold, combined with black or white enamel. Decorative elements frequently included seed pearls representing tears, glass covers, and intricate woven locks of human hair.

Authentic Georgian pieces usually exhibit hand-carved or chased gold detailing, closed-back settings, and hand-engraved inscriptions or period hallmarks. The presence of fine hairwork preserved beneath glass alongside period-appropriate enamel work also helps establish authenticity.

Antique memorial rings can be styled as singular statement pieces or paired alongside modern minimalist gold bands on adjacent fingers. Their historical motifs and gold tones allow them to integrate with contemporary fine jewellery collections.

Rings containing hairwork and seed pearls require protection from water, steam, and excessive humidity, which can deteriorate organic materials and internal compartments. Cleaning should be restricted to a soft, dry cloth without liquid cleansers or ultrasonic dips.
