A beautiful early Nineteenth Century Chinese Export lacquer cabinet; the doors decorated with mythical chinese landscapes and retaining the original engraved brass escutcheon open to reveal a fully fitted interior of eighteen graduated drawers which are decorated with mythical Chinese landscapes and retain their original fire gilded handles; the interior of the doors are decorated with bamboo leaves. Raised on the orignal stand which is decoated with vine leaves and flowers.
Circa: 1810
The lacquer on this cabinet is beautifully untouched and the quality of the cabinet is shown with the interiors of the drawers drawers being decorated with the maki-e technique in which powdered gold dust is spinkled into wet lacquer.

Walsingham Abbey was built on the ruins of a medieval priory and extended by John Haverfield for Rev. Henry Lee-Warner between 1806-16 and remained in the Lee-Warner family until its sale at the beginning of the Twentieth Century.
