Handsome Antique English Sterling Silver Cylindrical Dressing Table Box

Description

A wonderful example of a Victorian sterling silver box in a cylindrical form, these are the most perfect boxes for Q-Tips or the circular cotton pads, if you wanted to put this piece to work that is; or simply sit back and enjoy it's beauty.

The top is particularly interesting with the dome being decorated with an almost Celtic knot design interspersed with floral and foliate motifs and a square shaped cartouche to the centre.

The lid fits perfectly and when removed reveals a rather grand and luxurious gilded interior.

Both base and lid are hallmarked for London 1898, together with the maker's initials WR for the silversmith, I am unsure of this particular maker.

A super highly decorative box measuring 3" tall with a maximum lid diameter measuring 3".
