A handsome antique Victorian oak Wellington chest dating from circa 1870. It features a rectangular moulded lift up top above six graduated drawers with turned handles, two with card/letter holders. It has attractive carved corbels to both sides and stands on a plinth base. The top lifts on a brass hinge to reveal additional storage space. The second and third drawers have handy dividers with patented “Ceres” slides (which slide back and forth) designed for organising cards or letters. All the drawers are secured in place by a side hinged locking pilaster on the right which has a working lock and key.
