Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chinese Export Silver refers to silver items crafted in China primarily between 1785 and 1940 specifically for export to Western markets, often combining traditional Chinese motifs with Western vessel forms.

Items were typically crafted from high-purity silver using artisan techniques such as hand-chasing, repousse, casting, and hand-engraving, frequently incorporating cast sculptural stems or handles.

Authentic pieces usually feature artisan or workshop hallmarks alongside character stamps indicating silver purity, showing distinct hand-finished details and weight appropriate to the period.

A silver goblet can be displayed as a standalone accent on a sideboard top, grouped within a glass cabinet display, or placed on a dark wood mantelpiece.

Clean silver gently with a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish to remove tarnish, avoiding abrasive chemicals or heavy pressure on raised decorative details.
