Early C19th French Charles X Restauration period mahogany console table with a carrara marble top.
Smart mahogany console table of Empire design, fitted with a frieze drawer and raised on shapely scroll supports with applied ormolu anthemion design mounts . Having a shaped platform below , the back inset with a silver-grey mercury mirror plate. The front having dramatic exuberantly carved lion’s head monopodia and bold claw feet .
The figured carrara marble top having rounded corners and a reeded moulded edge .
In excellent original condition, the mahogany having achieved a rich colour and patina. The mirror plate having an atmospheric slightly degraded and ‘foxed’ silver patina.
