Notes - Sir Hickman Bacon (1855–1945) – The Collector. One of the greatest private collectors of British Romantic landscape art. He built his collection between the 1890s and WWI and focused on masters like Turner, Girtin, Cozens, Cotman. The Bacon Collection is still held at Thonock Hall, Lincolnshire. Widely respected for the quality and importance of his holdings. Some of his collection was shown at the British Museum and Tate.
