George III Silver Half Pint Tankard Mug London 1812

Description

A George III silver half pint tankard or mug with clear hallmarks for London 1812 and makers mark for Rebecca Emes & Edward Barnard. ( Rebecca Emes was the widow of maker John Emes and Edward Barnard was his leading journeyman.).

This mug follows the classic simple Georgian style. It has a tapering body, with two sets of banding, the upper with five narrow bands, the lower with nine. The rim and base are also banded. The superb handle is designed with the classic flat top for the thumb, with a wide scrolling handle below. The condition is excellent, it is clean all over and inside, and ready for use. Weight 7oz/220gr.
