Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Kashmiri decorative arts from this period typically feature detailed floral patterns, foliate motifs, and scrollwork painted onto lacquered wood or papier-mache surfaces. Influenced by Persian and Indian design traditions, these items were created both for local use and as export goods during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

These frames were constructed using a dense wooden core or moulded papier-mache, covered with a fine layer of plaster or gesso. Artisans then applied natural pigments, metal leaf, and coats of protective varnish or lacquer to secure the intricate surface paintings.

Authentic pieces display fine brushwork made by hand rather than stencil prints, often exhibiting slight variations in motif spacing. Age is typically indicated by fine surface cracking, subtle softening of varnish colours, and historic wear along edges and joinery.

Position the piece on a neutral wall space to allow the multi-coloured paintwork to serve as a focal point. It pairs well alongside understated wooden furniture, brass accents, or within an eclectic gallery wall layout.

Dust the frame regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a fine brush to prevent build-up in detailed areas. Avoid using liquid polishes, commercial glass cleaners near the frame, or damp cloths, as moisture can damage the painted varnish layer.
