Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An envelope games table is a type of folding table popularised during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. It features four triangular leaves that fold out like an envelope flap, rotating on a central pivot to reveal a green baize playing surface for card games.

These tables were primarily crafted from mahogany or rosewood, often featuring satinwood or boxwood marquetry and stringing. The playing surfaces were lined with wool felt or baize, and hardware typically consisted of cast brass handles, hinges, and corner castors.

Authentic pieces exhibit precise hand-cut joinery, drawer linings made of solid oak or mahogany, and original rotating top mechanisms. Look for natural patination on the timber, historical wear around the brass hinges, and era-appropriate foliate inlay.

When closed, the table functions as a compact square occasional table suitable for placement in a bay window, reading nook, or living room corner. Its compact footprint allows it to serve as a decorative side table when not in use for board games or card playing.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax paste twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood shrinkage, lifting of the marquetry, or fading of the finish.
