Description

Gents 1940s Rodana wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely.

The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the tear drop lugs. The case has a plated bezel, alloy centre and stainless steel case back, a combination usually seen in the second half of the 1940s. There is some wear and marking commensurate with the watch’s age.

The lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands. There is some fairly light marking across the dial. The numbers are most unusual, and very handsome.

The Rodana Watch Company was founded in 1930 in Grenchen, Switzerland by Hans Baumgartner. Some 10 years later, the company name was changed to Rodania for what is believed to be judicial reasons.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
