Antique Early Metalware 17thc Brass Chamberstick With Tulip Shaped Sconce. Dutch C1680-c1700.

Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

A fine example of a late 17thc / early 18thc brass chamberstick....sometimes known as a ''frying pan'' type, which are quite un-English in their features and probably belong to the Low Countries....this fine example has a round handle for hanging up when not in use....the ''tulip'' shaped candle sconce is a typical Dutch design and is secured to the pan by peening over the large single rivet.....an early feature of this chamberstick are the three rolled brass rivets which secure the shaped handle....the brass is thick and of a good weight....overall in excellent condition with no dents or cracks....a lovely example of these hard to find pieces of early lighting.
