Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, produced between 1830 and 1837, bridges the gap between Regency elegance and early Victorian weight. Pieces from this era typically display bold proportions, rich timbers like Cuban mahogany, and classic motifs such as acanthus leaves, scrollwork, and heavy spiral turning.

Bed posts from the early 19th century were predominantly hand-turned and carved from dense hardwoods, particularly mahogany. The base sections typically feature square mortise joints to receive the side rails and footboards of the bed frame.

Authentic period posts exhibit subtle irregularities from hand-carving tools rather than modern machine uniformities. They also show age-appropriate oxidisation within the grain, hand-cut mortise slots, and distinct weight consistent with original solid mahogany.

Unattached bed posts can be re-purposed as decorative architectural elements flanking doorways, converted into floor lamps, incorporated into bespoke kitchen islands, or displayed as sculptural objects in an alcove.

Dust regularly using a soft brush to reach into carved grooves. Preserve the natural patina by applying a high-grade beeswax paste once or twice a year, buffing gently with a clean microfibre cloth, and keeping the timber away from direct heat sources.
