Description

Superb quality pair of late 19th.c. ebonised armchairs c.1880. Carved mahogany frames with original ebonised finish upholstered with attractive botanical pattern needle point covers featuring a different design on each panel. Padded backrests with a carved and pierced ribbon garland at the centre of the top rail and turned finials. Turned and fluted arms with acanthus leaf terminals over large sprung seats. Turned and fluted column legs joined with shaped and moulded X stretchers with turned finials at the centres. Raised on the original wooden castors with gilded collars. Serviceable upholstery with some marks and wear, otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
