Description

A beautiful hammered silver brooch with wirework heart decoration around a unique handmade art glass cabochon, in turquoise with amber highlights.

We believe the brooch to be by the highly regarded jeweller Bernard Instone (born 1891), whose style is very distinctive. Instone studied under renowned Arts and Crafts jeweller Arthur Gaskin and was part of a later wave of Arts and Crafts practitioners, working up until his retirement in 1963. His works are typically unsigned, although sometimes carry the initials BI.

SIZE: Approximately 2.9cm diameter.

WEIGHT: 7.0g.

MATERIALS: 925 sterling silver, glass.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Stamped STERLING SILVER.

CONDITION: The piece is in excellent antique condition.

ERA: Estimated early Art Deco c.1920s.
