Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian bamboo furniture gained immense popularity during the late 19th century, particularly between 1870 and 1900, driven by the Aesthetic Movement and a fascination with Anglo-Japanese decorative arts. European manufacturers produced lightweight pieces featuring scorched or tortoiseshell bamboo frames often combined with lacquered or embossed leather surfaces.

These tables were typically constructed using imported hollow bamboo canes or solid wood poles wrapped in bamboo veneer. Top panels were frequently rendered in lacquered wood, embossed leather, woven seagrass, or tile inserts, joined using wooden dowels, small brads, and decorative cane bindings.

Authentic Victorian pieces display natural irregular node spacing, scorched or heat-mottled finishes creating a tortoiseshell pattern, and original timber dowel jointing. Later reproductions often feature uniform synthetic materials, modern metal screws, or lightweight hollow plastic-like finishes.

An antique bamboo table works well as a side table beside soft upholstery, a plant stand in a sunroom, or an accent piece in an eclectic living room. Combining natural timber textures with contemporary textiles creates balanced contrast within modern schemes.

Maintain bamboo furniture in a stable environment away from direct heat sources and moisture, which can cause cracking. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly to exposed timber framework, avoiding liquid polished or abrasive cleaners on delicate lacquer panels.
