A large-scale lustre jug with a pink lustre wash over a black transfer.
 
Marked ''J M F'' above ''No. 43'' the makers mark of John Mayer, Foley, Staffordshire Potteries who traded from 1833 to 1841. This jug dates from around 1835. No. 43 is a pattern number.
