Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Edwardian era (19011910), personal spirit flasks were widely produced for field sports, travel, and social outings. Craftsmen frequently combined faceted cut glass bodies with sterling silver caps and removable drinking cups to create functional, portable drinkware.

These flasks typically feature a hand-cut glass body with bevelled or fluted decoration, designed to fit comfortably in a coat pocket. The neck is topped with a hinged silver cap using a twist-and-lock bayonet mechanism, while the lower section often holds a friction-fitted detachable sterling silver cup lined with gilt or felt.

Authentic British pieces bear official assay office hallmarks on both the silver cap and the removable cup. These marks include the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture, and a makers mark.

An antique hip flask can be displayed as a decorative barware accent on a tray, a sideboard top, or inside a glazed display cabinet. It pairs well with glass decanters, vintage leather books, and metallic accessories in a study or dining area.

Clean the exterior silver elements using a gentle silver polishing cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive creams. Rinse the internal glass body with lukewarm water and diluted soap, ensuring water does not submerge the internal cork seal inside the cap to prevent deterioration.
