Large Brass Mounted Burl Walnut Jewelry Box C.1860 - Glazed Lid

Description

A stunning and exceptional Jewellery box dating to around 1860, made from rich and warm coloured Burr Walnut decorated with grand large polished brass mounts.

The top is set with a large thick piece of bevelled glass, always very popular and harder and harder to come by.

The interior of the lid retains the original blue silk and the Jewellery compartments including the removable tray have been beautifully re-lined in a blue velvet. Each side of the tray has a long ring compartment to accommodate numerous rings. The central circular section was originally for a pocket watch, today this could be used for a bracelet or wrist watch.

Showcase your gems in this top-notch Victorian vitrine, Excellent condition and a grand large size, measuring 12" x 9" x 5 1/2" tall. Complete with working tasselled key.
