This is a rare Georgian, English multi spiral opaque twist wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a pan-topped bowl measuring 5.2 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on a multi spiral opaque twist stem and a conical, folded foot which measures 6.9 cm (2.7 inches) in diameter. The glass is 14.7 cm (5.9 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is an unburst bubble in the metal of the bowl and another in the rim of the foot, both dating from manufacture. The stem is at a slight slant to the foot.
Lead glass weighing in at 105 g. (~ 4 oz.). Pan-top bowls on opaque twist glasses are scarce, as are multi spiral opaque twist stems and folded feet on opaque twist glasses. Together they make for a rare glass.
