This is an antique decorative truncheon. A Scottish, beech Edinburgh police baton with handpainted detail, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850.

Fascinating decorative truncheon, likely carried by a sergeant

Displays a desirable aged patina with lightly time worn appearance

Ebonised beech, with natural colour to the tactile ring turned handle

Delightful handpainted detail with the Edinburgh Coat of Arms

Coat of Arms bears the Latin phrase Nisi Dominus Frustra - without the Lord, we act in vain

Also accentuated with the district number in addition to the Victoria Regina cypher

This is a superb antique decorative truncheon, a well used and pleasingly handpainted memento of the Edinburgh police service in the Victorian period. Delivered ready to display.
