Description

A Flight, Barr and Barr Worcester Porcelain Entrée Dish c.1815 - 1820. Formed of three oval shaped sections, the domed lid with Strawberry moulded finial hightened in gold, the inner liner with solidly gilded gadrooned rim and the base with two solidly gilded handles either side.  Both the base and lid very finely decorated with a continuous band of hand painted roses around the edge. The central reserve decorated with a family crest, possibly that of the Milbanke family, which according to Fairbairns book of family crests is depicted as ‘’A Lion's head gules, collared ermine.’’

Condition: Excellent with just some minor wear to the gilding

Produced in Worcester between 1813 and 1840, Flight, Barr and Barr porcelain is identified by its bone china composition, hand-applied enamel painting, gilding, and decorative floral or armorial crest motifs characteristic of the Regency period.

These vessels were moulded from soft-paste porcelain or bone china, finished with hand-painted enamel decoration and gilded trim, and crafted with fitted lids and handles to maintain food temperature during dinner service.

Authentic pieces frequently bear impressed marks such as FBB surmounted by a crown, printed backstamps, raised gilding detail, and hand-painted heraldic or botanical designs standard to the Worcester manufactory.
