An early 17thc six plank chest, a timeless and useful design that sits comfortably in any interior scheme. This example has the added interest of shaped side panels, it stands high on its feet which gives it a lighter feel, and is relatively small for this period. The patina is rich and deep with a wonderful colour to the lid where the sun has gently lightened it over time, the grain to the front of the chest is very figured which adds to the decorative appeal, as with most chests of this considerable age the lock and hinges have been replaced over time.
