This is a superb pair of Victorian period oil lamps in excellent condition dating from around 1860.
The lamps are ever so pretty and have delightful proportions with the oil reservoir modelled as a large circular wicker basket held aloft by three winged cherubs or Cupid figures beautifully hand painted and detailed. The circular base beneath has rose and petal detail with roses to the body of the basket also. The lovely shades have a beautiful spiral fluting design with crimped upper edge and a gorgeous pale lemon colour that deepens gently as it rises to the top. These both have the crossed sword mark to the base for the Meissen porcelain factory.
A stunning pair, very rare and so pretty
These measure in 42 cms in height by 16 cms in diameter at the shades.
