The Fancy Fox has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The shield has a gilt and black chequer-board to the lower half and a goat above. Impressed mark to the saucer, c.1870.

The cup measures 6.8cm (2 11/16") high and 6.5cm (2 9/16") rim to rim, 8.9cm (3 1/2") to the handle. The saucer measures 14.1cm (5 9/16") wide.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. The surface is finely crazed from manufacture.
