Stunning Minton Reticulated Hand-painted Porcelain Plate C1870 (lord Milton)

An important Minton plate is the same style as the design for the Lord Milton Service
 
circa 1867. Offered in superb condition, measuring 23.7 cm
 
The border with pierced ornament and panels of ''acid gold'', is missing the cypher of Lord Milton which would be painted at the top, the full centre painted with a superbly executed landscape scene, 23.7cm diam, special puce printed mark for Phillips of New Bond Street. This may not be part of the original service but ld is the same pattern and quality. Offered in fabulous condition.
 
The original Lord Milton service commemorates the expedition led by Lord Milton and his doctor, William Butler Cheadle, overland across Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific in 1862-63. On completion of the arduous journey, the two recorded their adventures in a book, The North-West Passage by Land, published in 1865.
