Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau desk accessories feature organic, flowing lines, whiplash curves, and natural motifs such as stylised flowers, foliage, and insects. Popularised between 1890 and 1910, these items brought decorative artistic elements to functional office and study accoutrements.

Antique inkstands were commonly constructed from cast brass, bronze, cast iron, or silver, often paired with clear, cut, or molded glass ink wells. Bases frequently featured pierced scrollwork, pen trays, and patinated finishes designed for durability on writing surfaces.

Authentic pieces display period-appropriate wear, casting marks, registered design numbers, or maker stamps. Genuine glass bottles from this era often show slight asymmetry, air bubbles within the glass, and hand-fitted metal collars or caps.

An antique inkstand can be displayed as a decorative accent on a home office desk, console table, or library shelf. It pairs effectively with vintage leather-bound books, brass desk lamps, and traditional stationery setups.

Clean metal bases with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical polishes that strip original patination. Wash glass ink bottles gently in lukewarm water with mild detergent, ensuring they are completely dry before reinserting into the metal base.
