Description

Antique Elgin pocket watch, 1906.

The watch has a 7 jewel stem-winding movement, grade 294, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 12,082,266 which dates it back to 1906… this particular grade was in production from 1904 right up until 1922.

The watch measures 58mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop, so larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is stamped Silveroid, an alloy often used in watch cases around this time and it came under various names such as Silverore and Silverine. The case was made for Elgin by the Crescent Watch Case Company.

The case is in lovely condition, especially for such an early piece.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There are a few hairlines but mostly quite faint.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
