An exclusive contract with a Parisian gallery forced Laloue to use a number of nom de plumes to sign his work to avoid his contractual obligation. These include:

Eugène Galien-laloue was a French artist born in Paris of French-Italian parents. He took his early inspiration painting busy Parisian street scenes of the Belle Epoque era. Later in his career he painted Normandy landscapes and it is from this period that this painting dates.

Purchased at auction in Paris.
Condition.
Good sound original condition. The walnut frame has been adapted to fit and is a bit gappy at the corners.
