Description

A good quality Vintage suit of Japanese Samurai armour, mid 20th Century. Of sectional form fashioned from various materials including lacquer, metal, composition and fabric suspnded on a wooden frame. With metal kabuto and mempo, gilded metal armour and fur covered shoes. Within original case and outer pine transit case. Complete and in excellent condition.

Known as 'Gogatsu-ningyo', meaning '5th month dolls' these very detailed miniature suits played an important part in the Japanese festival for children held on the fifth day of the fifth month, closely matching in structure, materials, details of the full size real versions.
