Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Crafted in the Rococo style, the pieces depict a boy and a young woman seated between two large wicker baskets, each holding a bouquet of flowers. The baskets are delicately hand-painted with floral sprigs and rest on oval, rocaille-moulded bases edged in gilt.
Both pieces bear the iconic underglaze blue crossed swords mark of Meissen, alongside an incised model number ‘3024’ on the underside.
These figures were originally modeled by Johann Kändler, Meissen’s chief modeler in the 18th century, celebrated for his masterful Rococo-style figurines known for their remarkable detail and lifelike expression. Due to the enduring popularity of Kändler’s designs, Meissen continued producing these figurines well into the 19th century, preserving the exceptional craftsmanship of the originals.
