Silver Topped Glass Perfume Bottle Birmingham 1928 by Adie Brothers Ltd

1900 - 1920
Description

A very pretty silver & cut glass perfume bottle. The body of the glass is an unusual shape, like a square cut away with faceted panels adding interest. The glass is heavy and the bottle feels lovely and solid when held.

In excellent condition, including glass stopper that fits snugly. The silver top has an engine turned decoration on the top and is hallmarked to the neck. There is a slight indentation to the silver top that can be seen in the photos.

The silver collar is hallmarked for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1928 and Lion Passant to indicate sterling silver. Maker's marks are also visible for Adie Brothers Ltd.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco scent bottles from the 1920s often feature geometric glass facets alongside silver mounts with refined, clean-lined decoration. These vanity items were designed to complement the modern dressing tables of the era.

These vessels typically feature heavy moulded or cut glass bodies designed to showcase clarity and weight, paired with sterling silver collars and fitted silver-capped stoppers.

Authentic British pieces bear official assay office hallmarks, including the sterling silver mark, city mark, date letter, and makers mark stamped directly onto the silver collar or cap.

Display scent bottles on a mirrored tray, a marble vanity top, or a bedside table to reflect light and add historical detail to modern dressing spaces.

Polish the silver gently using a soft cloth and specialised silver cream, avoiding harsh liquid dip polishes that can degrade glass joins or internal fittings.
