A large and highly decorative 19th century French bronze study of the British Celtic Iceni tribe, Queen Boadicea is portrayed standing wearing a long flowing dress with her most impressive waist long wavy hair. She has one arm raised holding a small sword in a victorious pose with her foot on a shield lost in battle from the Roman enemy. She was famous for rising with Celtic tribes to fight against the Romans who had invaded and settled in Great Britain during this period.
