Rare First Period Worcester Porcelain Yellow Ground Basket C.1768

A stunning Worcester porcelain circular basket with a lemon yellow enamel ground to the outside. The inside is superbly decorated with a large central floral spray and the intersections around the rim perfectly filled with very carefully painted smaller floral sprigs and a scattering of others around the lower part of the walls. The outside intersections are applied with small daisy flowers dotted with green and puce enamel. c.1768.

It measures 19cm (7 1/2") wide and 7cm (2 3/4") high.

In excellent condition with just a single small chip to one of the flower petals just below the edge of the rim. There is a firing hairline running a short way around the edge of the base and a fine glaze line across one of the pierced wall sections (please see the later photos). No repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. A beautiful example.
