19th Century English Regency Rosewood And Gilt Armchair
£3,400 $4,544 €3,983
A 19th Century Regency Simulated Rosewood and Parcel Gilt Armchair.
This lovely chair stands beautifully. With its curved sabre legs and lion''s paw feet to the front legs it has slim and elegant proportions, and is of good scale. It retains its original parcel gilt detailing, featuring large-scale Greek key designs to the head rail and front seat rail and gilt accents to most of the other surfaces. It is also painted in simulation of rosewood, the finish having attained a fine patination.
This is a lovely example of regency chair design that clearly came from a very good workshop. We have upholstered it to an under-finish, ready for the client''s final choice of outer covering. A very sophisticated chair.
