Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bag chandelier, also known as a basket chandelier, features concentric strands of crystal beads suspended in a hemispherical or pouch-like silhouette. Originating in the Regency era and popularised throughout the 20th century, these fixtures diffuse light through dense arrays of cut glass faceted droplets.

Chandeliers from the 1930s typically combine cut or pressed lead crystal drops with metal framing, often plated in nickel or chrome. The individual glass droplets are connected using metal pins to form the main decorative skirt.

Authentic 1930s pieces often exhibit sharp hand-cut facets or distinct pressed patterns, accompanied by slight variations in glass clarity. Metal fittings frequently show age-appropriate oxidisation on wire pins and internal armatures.

A vintage crystal bag chandelier provides a focal point in contemporary spaces such as hallways, dressing rooms, or entrance foyers. Placing the fitting against neutral walls allows the refraction of light through the glass to highlight architectural details.

Dust the fixture regularly using a soft microfibre cloth or camel-hair brush. For deeper cleaning, wipe individual glass droplets with a lint-free cloth dampened with a solution of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water, taking care not to pull on wire connectors.
