Teniers Brussels tapestries are historic wall hangings woven in Flanders that feature rustic genre scenes inspired by the paintings of David Teniers the Younger and his contemporaries. These tapestries gained immense popularity in the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, portraying rural life, village celebrations, and domestic scenes.

Brussels tapestries were hand-woven on high-warp or low-warp looms using natural wool yarns for the warp and weft, often combined with silk threads to highlight detailed areas and create tonal contrast.

Authentic period tapestries exhibit hand-spun yarns, minor irregularities in weave density, natural vegetable dye fading, and specific reverse-side thread hand-tying. Original maker or city marks woven into the selvedge edge can also indicate authenticity.

A large tapestry acts as a visual anchor when mounted on a neutral focal wall, such as above a sideboard or sofa. Combining traditional textile art with minimalist or contemporary furniture creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Protect tapestries by keeping them out of direct sunlight and hanging them with even weight distribution using fabric sleeves. Dusting should be done gently using a low-suction vacuum with a mesh protective screen, while structural repairs require a textile conservator.
