Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An enfilade is a long, linear type of French sideboard featuring doors and drawers arranged in a single row along a flat front. Historically crafted in provincial regions, these pieces provided extensive surface space and storage for dining rooms and grand halls.

Traditional French enfilades were primarily crafted from solid native hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or fruitwood. Mortise and tenon joinery, hand-planed panels, and hand-forged iron or cast brass hardware were standard construction elements.

Authentic pieces feature signs of hand-craftsmanship, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular drawer linings, original peg construction, and natural wear patterns around keyholes and handles. The back panels often show hand-sawn timber marks consistent with historic woodworking techniques.

A French enfilade functions well as a focal statement piece in modern dining rooms, large foyers, or living spaces. Anchoring the wide surface with contemporary artwork, minimalist lamps, or ceramic vessels creates a balanced contrast between historic timber and modern design.

Regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth is recommended to protect the timber surface. Applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year preserves the wood grain and prevents drying, while avoiding placement near direct heat sources or moisture prevents timber movement.
