Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts seating emphasises simple structural forms, prominent wood grain, and functional design. Common features include vertical spindles, rectilinear frames, subtle turned details, and solid joinery methods that highlight the natural qualities of the timber.

Solid native timbers such as oak, ash, and walnut were primarily used, often finished to highlight the natural grain. Upholstery generally featured simple woven textiles, leather, or drop-in fabric cushions over sturdy webbed bases.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-finished woodwork, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and well-proportioned architectural frames. Stamped marks or maker labels from noted retailers like Liberty & Co may occasionally be present on the underside of the rails.

These structured oak chairs can be paired with a clean-lined modern dining table to create visual contrast. The warm timber tones harmonise well with neutral wall palettes, textured linen textiles, and contemporary lighting.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Keep the woodwork away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage and treat textile seats with care.
