Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian jewellery frequently featured natural motifs, with butterflies representing transformation, soul, and freedom. Filigree work became widely popular during the 19th century, influenced by Italian and Portuguese metalworking techniques brought to Great Britain.

Filigree brooches were crafted using fine threads of silver or gold wire, pliable enough to be twisted and curled into intricate openwork patterns before being soldered into a structural frame.

Authentic Victorian silver filigree pieces typically display hand-soldered wire joins, slight asymmetries, and period-appropriate C-clasps or long pin stems. They may also carry hallmark stamps or silver purity marks on the pin stem or reverse frame.

A silver filigree brooch can be pinned to coat lapels, silk scarves, velvet ribbons, or denim jackets to add a refined accent. It can also be worn as a hat pin or fastened onto a fabric handbag.

Clean silver filigree gently using a soft-bristled toothbrush and mild soapy water, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that can remove intentional oxidisation. Store the brooch in a tarnish-resistant pouch away from damp environments.
