Pair of early C19th Regency bronze cassolettes of classical campana-shaped form .

Smart pair of reversible lid cassolettes with candleholders . Of classical campana urn design with berry finial surmounts , ovolo cast rims and twin loop handles . The bodies raised on socles onto square plinth bases . The candle nozzle sconces with corresponding ovolo cast rims.

In excellent original condition, having a dark patination to the bronze with minor wear to the surface commensurate with age and use.

A cassolette is a decorative covered urn or vessel designed to hold aromatic powders, incense, or perfumed pastilles. During the Regency era, neoclassical design heavily influenced their form, resulting in classical Greco-Roman shapes such as the campana urn.

Early nineteenth-century cassolettes were typically cast in bronze or brass using lost-wax or sand-casting techniques. The individual sections, including the plinth base, pedestal, vessel body, and finial lid, were cast separately and joined internally with threaded metal rods.

Authentic Regency cassolettes exhibit hand-chased decorative details, crisp casting, and original hand-cut internal thread assemblies. Surface finishes show natural oxidisation, patination, and minor wear consistent with age, rather than uniform modern chemical coatings.
