A 19thC camphor wood campaign trunk. Mid sized with brass cappings and corner strapping. Brass side carrying handles,blank name cartouche and brass escutcheon.WORKING CHIMING LOCK WITH KEY. Internal candle box. Brass hinges.The flush lifting ring to the front of the lid has a missing section probably due to an attempt to open the trunk with the lid locked. The lid can be lifted with no problem and there is a canvas lid stay. There is a faded makers label ''AH FOO Hong Kong'' which would account for the chiming lock mechanism which was an anti tamper feature commonly used in the far east. The usual scuffs and blemishes due to rough transportation.An excellent coffee table size or for storing clothing that needs to be protected from moths.
