19th century Chinese Canton famille rose porcelain garden seat

Porcelain garden seat modelled as a drum with nail head bosses to top and bottom, the sides with two large panels depicting figures of the court watching actors in traditional dress armed with swords and a lion dog, further smaller panels decorated with figures and boughs of flowering plants with butterflies and birds. In total there are in excess of 80 figures over the whole seat.

A Canton famille rose garden seat is a barrel-shaped ceramic stool produced in China during the Qing dynasty, decorated with overglaze pink and polychrome enamels depicting court scenes, flora, and fauna.
