Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A sword stick, or sword cane, is a walking cane containing a concealed blade, which gained popularity during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as a fashionable accessory that doubled as a discreet personal defence tool for gentlemen.

Traditional sword canes were constructed using durable hardwoods, bamboo, or malacca for the outer shaft, fitted with forged steel or iron for the internal blade, and accented with collars or handles made from brass, silver, horn, or bone.

Authentic pieces usually feature hand-forged steel blades showing natural age-related patination, precise wood joinery at the release mechanism or collar, and maker or silver hallmarks along the metallic fittings.

These items are commonly displayed horizontally on custom wooden stands atop library shelving or desks, or placed vertically within cast iron umbrella stands alongside period walking canes.

The wood shaft requires occasional application of microcrystalline wax to maintain humidity balance, whilst the steel blade should be kept lightly oiled with mineral oil to prevent oxidisation and rust.
